The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the construction of a private airstrip at Canaanland, the headquarters of Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, located in Ota, Ogun State.
This development was confirmed by Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development. The founder of the church, Bishop David Oyedepo, expressed excitement over this approval during a service at Covenant University Chapel, where he shared the news with the congregation.
Oyedepo explained that the new airstrip would allow him to travel directly from the church premises, eliminating the need to fly to an airport first. This will also benefit worshippers and visitors, especially during large events, by improving transportation logistics. The airstrip is expected to serve members of the church who own planes, offering them a place to land and park.
The announcement was made during a special edition of Tehillah Night, a thanksgiving event that also celebrated Oyedepo’s recent 70th birthday.
He also encouraged young people in the congregation to find their purpose in God’s plan, citing Covenant University graduates who now work as pilots as examples of the university’s mission to help students discover and pursue their destinies.
“Won’t you be glad to know that there are some captains who are graduates of Covenant University that fly me? We don’t have an aviation department here, but they found their place in God and went after it.
“That’s what this university is all about, it’s not about boxing you up. It’s about allowing you to locate God’s plan and pursue it accordingly. Young people, don’t play away your life, you don’t have a spare,” he said.
