There was a significant turnout of Nigerians on Tuesday at the Ministry of Defence in Abuja as citizens joined activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) in a peaceful protest against the worsening security situation in the country.
The protest reportedly began around 10 a.m., when a group of concerned Nigerians marched to the Ministry of Defence to demand urgent and practical action from the federal government in addressing insecurity across various parts of the country. The demonstrators expressed frustration over continued reports of attacks, kidnappings, and general safety concerns affecting communities nationwide.
VDM, who was said to have recently returned from China, was present at the forefront of the protest. He was seen addressing soldiers stationed at the entrance of the ministry, calmly but firmly expressing the concerns of the protesters. He called for stronger and more immediate responses from security authorities to protect citizens and restore public confidence in the country’s security system.
Eyewitnesses at the scene confirmed that the activist engaged respectfully with the security personnel on ground, explaining the purpose of the gathering and the demands being made. The interaction was described as orderly, with no reports of violence or escalation between protesters and security operatives.
Protesters were seen holding their ground while chanting and calling for improved national security measures.
As of the time of filing this report, the protest remains peaceful, and there have been no incidents of confrontation or disruption.
Authorities are yet to issue an official response to the demonstration, while Nigerians continue to watch developments closely as calls for improved security grow louder across the country.
