Construction work on the N39bn Mararaba twin flyover project in Nasarawa State is progressing, as the state government continues efforts to tackle the perennial traffic congestion in the area.
The project, located in Karu Local Government Area, is expected to improve vehicular movement along the busy corridor linking Nasarawa State with the Federal Capital Territory.
The twin flyovers, which also include two roundabouts, were inaugurated by Governor Abdullahi Sule in December 2025. The project covers approximately 2.6 kilometres and has an estimated delivery period of between 16 and 18 months.
Mararaba is one of the major access routes into Abuja and experiences heavy traffic, particularly during peak hours. The congestion has continued to affect commuters, commercial operators and residents who depend on the route daily.
The ongoing construction is therefore being closely watched by road users, many of whom expect the project to significantly improve traffic flow once completed.
The development is also part of broader road improvement efforts along the Abuja-Marabarа-Keffi corridor, which is expected to strengthen connectivity between the FCT and communities in Nasarawa State.
When completed, the flyover is expected to reduce pressure on major junctions, shorten travel time and improve movement for motorists using the route.
With construction still underway, attention remains on the pace of work and the government’s ability to deliver the project within the projected completion period.
