Segun Ogunwuyi, Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has resigned from his position, effective Monday, October 12, 2026.
Ogunwuyi announced his decision in a resignation letter addressed to the governor, in which he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the government and people of Oyo State.
In the letter, he described his time in the administration as a great honour, noting that he was proud to have contributed to the state’s growth and development.
He also commended the team he worked with, expressing confidence that Oyo State would continue to make progress despite his departure.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour,” Ogunwuyi stated in the letter.
He further reaffirmed his respect for Governor Makinde and his commitment to the interests of Oyo State and Nigeria.
However, the former chief of staff did not disclose the reason for his resignation in the letter.
Ogunwuyi, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, is the latest political aide to leave Makinde’s administration this year.
His resignation comes amid reports of the departure of several political appointees from the governor’s government in recent months.
Ogunwuyi previously represented Ogbomoso North, South and Oriire Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives before serving as chief of staff to Governor Makinde.
