BUA Expands to Strengthen Food Security

BUA Foods Plc has announced plans to expand its pasta production facility following the signing of an agreement with FAVA, a renowned Italian company specializing in pasta manufacturing equipment.

According to Abdul Samad Rabiu, the Chairman of BUA Foods, this initiative aligns with the company’s strategic vision to enhance food security in Nigeria.

Rabiu noted that this new project is part of broader efforts to address food supply issues within the country, aiming to boost the company’s annual production capacity by 400,000 tonnes, bringing the total to 900,000 metric tonnes per annum.

“Our expansion in manufacturing capacity will empower us to broaden our production capabilities and contribute to national development by providing solutions to persistent food shortages,” Rabiu stated in a Wednesday announcement by Adewunmi Desalu, the Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at BUA Foods.

“In addition to increasing our pasta output, we will also implement new innovations that facilitate mixed volume growth while consistently delivering the exceptional product quality our customers anticipate.

The added capacity for 100,000 tonnes of grain storage will help us meet the rising demand for our products and bolster the foundation of our food processing operations by ensuring a stable and reliable supply of raw materials,” Rabiu further explained.

To support this expansion, a complementary agreement has been established with Martini, another Italian company, to provide the necessary packaging equipment.
