The Federal Government started work on the Sango, Ota/Idiroko Expressway‘s extension and renovation on Thursday.

The terrible 64-kilometer Ota-Idiroko Road is currently being expanded by demolishing a number of structures that were designated for that purpose.

In a WhatsApp conversation, a local source informed Punch correspondent that renters and landlords whose properties were scheduled for demolition were powerless once the demolition process began.

“That is what is happening now at Oju-ore, Ota towards the border. Most buildings are going down from the Oju-Ore to Owode-Atan to the Idiroko border. The Federal Government has started the expansion and reconstruction of the road,” the source told Punch correspondent.

According to The PUNCH, the National Association of Ogun State Students made a strong plea to the Federal Government on Monday to move quickly to rebuild the Lagos-Sango Ota-Abeokuta expressway, which completely collapsed.

The students specifically urged Minister of Works Dave Umahi to promptly turn on all relevant equipment in order to guarantee that the Federal Government’s promised assistance in restoring the motorway actually occurs.

This request was made on Monday by Kehinde Thomas, the National President of NAOSS, in a statement that was provided to state-based journalists.
