Victor Osimhen is now the fifth-most valuable footballer in Africa, according to the latest market-value figures released by Transfermarkt.
The Super Eagles striker is currently valued at €75 million, marking another drop from the position he occupied in previous years. Osimhen was Africa’s most valuable player in 2023 before moving to second in 2025 and then third ahead of the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande leads the latest ranking with a €90 million valuation.
Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi, Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo and Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi follow, with each player carrying a €80 million price tag.
Manchester United attacker Bryan Mbeumo is level with Osimhen at €75 million.
However, the Nigerian’s fall on the list has not been accompanied by a decline in his performances. He has started the 2026/27 season strongly with Galatasaray, scoring four times and setting up another goal in his opening two appearances.
Osimhen has also continued to strengthen his record in Turkey. His latest goals have taken him into third place among Galatasaray’s foreign scorers, further underlining the impact he has made since arriving at the club.
Interest in the striker remains high, with Arsenal reportedly among the clubs most closely linked with a move. Saudi Pro League outfit Al Hilal are also understood to be watching the situation as the transfer window approaches its final stages.
Transfermarkt’s global figures place Osimhen 20th among the world’s most valuable forwards. When the ranking is limited to recognised centre forwards, he rises to eighth.
Erling Haaland sits at the top of that category with a market value of €220 million, followed by Kylian Mbappe at €200 million. Julian Alvarez is third with a €120 million valuation.
Alexander Isak and Lautaro Martinez are jointly fourth at €85 million, while Hugo Ekitike and Joao Pedro are valued at €80 million each.
Osimhen’s €75 million figure therefore leaves him eighth among the world’s most valuable centre forwards. He remains the highest-valued Nigerian player and the most valuable footballer in the Turkish Super Lig.
The Galatasaray forward has also featured prominently in the history of Africa’s biggest transfers. His move from Lille to Napoli was reportedly worth $91 million, while Galatasaray’s permanent deal for the Nigerian was put at about $87 million.
Only a few African players have appeared twice among the continent’s ten biggest transfers, with Osimhen being one of them.
Diomande currently occupies the top spot on that transfer list following his reported $144 million move from RB Leipzig to Real Madrid. Nicolas Pepe’s $92 million transfer from Lille to Arsenal in 2019 is another of the biggest deals involving an African player.
Nigeria also has another representative among Africa’s high-value stars in Ademola Lookman. The Atletico Madrid winger is currently valued at €35 million.
Lookman has remained an important attacking figure for both club and country and was one of Nigeria’s main creative threats as the Super Eagles finished third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Osimhen, meanwhile, was also among Nigeria’s key performers during the tournament.
The striker will now look to continue his excellent start to the new campaign when Galatasaray face Goztepe in their next Turkish Super Lig fixture on Saturday.
