The Nigeria Police Force has made a significant breakthrough in combating crime, announcing the arrest of the masterminds behind the Abuja-Kaduna train attack. According to a press release by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, one Ibrahim Abdullahi, alias MANDE, was arrested at the Abuja-Kaduna Road flyover by Rido Junction.
Abdullahi confessed to being the leader of a kidnap syndicate terrorizing the Kaduna-Abuja highway, alongside notorious criminals like Dogo Gide and Bello Turji. He was involved in various kidnapping incidents, including the Green Field University abduction and most kidnappings along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.
Furthermore, Adejobi revealed that Abdullahi, along with Auwal Ayuba and Babangida Alhaji Bello, was part of the armed group that attacked the train on March 28, 2022, in the Kateri-Rijana area of Kaduna state, resulting in several deaths and abductions.
The Police Force has made significant strides in combating crime, with 81 armed robbery suspects, 40 kidnap suspects, 73 murder/homicide suspects, 36 rape suspects, 22 cult-related crime suspects, and 28 suspects engaged in other criminal activities arrested. The Police have also recovered 16 firearms, 686 ammunitions, 28 stolen vehicles, over 200 harmful weapons, and 600 bags of fertilizers. Additionally, N3,350,000 in ransom payments has been recovered, and 158 kidnapped victims have been safely rescued and reunited with their families.
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun (Ph.D.), has reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, vowing to replicate these successful interventions across the country to prevent criminal activities from hindering movement and causing harm to innocent people.
