Leicester Confirm Aribo Exit After Loan Spell

Leicester City have announced that Joe Aribo will return to Southampton after the end of his loan stay, as the club begins a major squad overhaul ahead of next season.

The decision was confirmed on Sunday when Leicester released their retained list, revealing that 10 senior players will leave once their contracts expire this summer. The club also stated that several loanees, including Aribo, will head back to their parent clubs after completing their temporary spells.

As part of preparations for life in League One following relegation, Leicester disclosed that contract extension clauses had been activated for five academy players, while fresh deals were offered to a number of young talents.

Aribo spent the campaign on loan from Southampton and is still tied to the Saints until June 2026.

The Nigerian midfielder had already been linked with an exit after negotiations over a permanent transfer reportedly failed to move forward. Reports also claimed he was unwilling to remain in England’s third division after Leicester’s drop from the Championship.

In a statement, the club confirmed that the loan deals of Jordan James, Aaron Ramsey, Joe Aribo, Dujuan Richards and Divine Mukasa had all come to an end, with the players now returning to their respective clubs.

Leicester’s summer departures also include several experienced names. Club captain Ricardo Pereira is leaving after eight years and more than 200 appearances for the Foxes.

Patson Daka, Jordan Ayew, Jamaal Lascelles and academy graduate Wanya Marçal are also set to move on, while discussions are still ongoing with veteran goalkeeper Asmir Begović over a possible contract renewal.
