In a major breakthrough against organized crime, the Gombe State Police Command has dismantled a cross-border kidnapping network, arresting a key suspect linked to several abductions within Nigeria and the Republic of Cameroon.
The suspect, Adamu Adamu, aged 30 and an indigene of Song Local Government Area, Adamawa State, was captured on October 4, 2025, at about 5:00 p.m., by operatives of Operation Hattara, a tactical unit led by CSP Ali Madaki, at Jauro Jatau Quarters, Akko LGA, following credible intelligence.
Confirming the development, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, told journalists that Adamu confessed to being part of a syndicate notorious for cross-border kidnappings-for-ransom.
He also revealed the gang’s hidden arms depot in a mountainous area near Wuro Biriji Village, Song LGA, Adamawa State.
A follow-up operation on October 5, 2025, led police operatives to the site, resulting in the recovery of:
-
Two AK-47 rifles (with breach numbers 05316 and 3553)
-
Eighty (80) live rounds of ammunition
-
Seven AK-47 magazines
-
A chain, padlocks, knife, and four small bags used in their criminal operations
“The suspect is currently in custody, and efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the syndicate and dismantle their network entirely,” DSP Abdullahi stated.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining aggressive onslaughts against criminal elements, assuring residents that Operation Hattara will continue to make the state unsafe for kidnappers and other offenders.
