A 14-year-old boy has stabbed a police officer in Bosnia and wounded another officer on Thursday. The boy broke into the police station and caused harm.
The attack reportedly took place in the town of Bosanska Krupa, 300 kilometers (186 miles) northwest of the capital Sarajevo, said Ramo Isak, interior minister for the Bosniak-Croat federation, one of the two entities that make up the country. He also revealed that one of the officers died while the other was wounded.
“This is very sad. What surprised us is that it concerns a minor aged 14 who dared attack officers at a police station. It’s an alarm bell for our society,” said regional police chief Adnan Habibija.
The police have taken security measures regarding the attack. In June last year, a 13-year-old injured a teacher using a firearm in a school in North Bosnia
While the motive for the attrack was not immediately revealed, the wounded officer was hospitalised with life-threatening injuries, police spokesman Adnan Beganovic told national broadcaster BHRT.
The mayor of the town, Armin Halitovic, said the attack had sent shockwaves, adding that they were a peaceful and tolerant town.
