Nigerian activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has revealed that Speed Darlington was arrested in Lagos last Friday and transferred to Abuja, where he has been detained since. Adeyanju disclosed that the arrest was based on a complaint filed by Nigerian artist Burna Boy. The activists made this known on Tuesday via his X handle.

Adeyanju wrote on his X handle, “We just spent the last 30 minutes with Speed Darlington, and he narrated how he was arrested in Lagos Friday last week, moved around eventually brought to Abuja, and has been in detention since then. The petition against him was written by Burna Boy; we can confirm.”

Social media influencer Constance Nwogu had earlier raised the alarm about Speed Darlington’s disappearance, stating that he had been unreachable for three days. His last post on YouTube was three days ago, October 4, while his last post on Instagram was close to a month ago, September 8.

Nwogu stated that Speed Darlington’s disappearance might result from the video he made questioning the authenticity of Burna Boy’s Grammy award and linking Burna Boy to Sean Combs, also known as P Diddy or Puff Daddy.

On that same Tuesday, Burna Boy posted on his X handle, saying, “Who’s missing?” but it’s not certain if he was referring to Speed Darlington.
