In a shocking turn of events, the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries has been embroiled in a social media firestorm after several viral videos showcasing sensational testimonies from its members sparked widespread skepticism.
The church has now come under careful examination , with many questioning the authenticity of the testimonies. In response, the church has fired back, accusing bloggers of manipulating the footage to discredit its work.
“We urge Nigerians to visit our platform and listen to the complete testimonies for better understanding,” Pastor Chidi Louis, Head of Public Relations and Media, said in a statement. “The viral videos were edited to ridicule the church.”
In the middle of these controversies, three major videos have captured the attention of a lot of people, a member claimed a lion rescued them from harm. A woman said she fought off robbers and seized their AK-47 rifles. A man claimed survival from kidnapping, machete attacks, and gunshot wounds without injury.
Pastor Louis clarified that the woman’s testimony about defeating armed men was from a dream, not real life. He described the viral videos as “fake” and “doctored,” attributing the controversy to “a malicious attempt to discredit the church.”
A lot of people have reacted to the response from the church.
“This response raises more questions than answers,” said social media user @TruthSeeker90. “Why release edited videos if not to deceive?”
“The church’s explanation is unconvincing,” added @SkepticalMind. “Transparency is needed.”
