Fan Milk Plc, a subsidiary of the global dairy giant Danone, has recently launched a new yoghurt production line in Ibadan, Oyo State, dedicated to its FanYogo Yoghurt Drink. The company announced that this significant investment demonstrates its dedication to the African market and its belief in the growth potential of Nigeria’s dairy industry.
Véronique Penchienati-Bosetta, Danone’s Deputy CEO, emphasized that this move underscores Danone’s enduring commitment to Africa and reflects their confidence in Nigeria’s dairy sector’s expansion. The goal of this new facility is to boost production capacity to better meet consumer demands.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by Deputy Governor Adebayo Lawal, praised the development as a significant boost to the state’s economy. He highlighted that the new facility signifies Fan Milk Plc and Danone’s commitment to Oyo State’s socio-economic growth, promising job creation, local economic stimulation, and an improvement in the quality of dairy products available to Nigerians.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo lauded the project, noting that Fan Milk Plc’s investment in the new facility demonstrates the vital role of manufacturing in Nigeria’s economy. He remarked that it will generate employment, support local economies, and enhance Nigeria’s standing in the global dairy market.
Kayode Adebiyi, Managing Director of Fan Milk, described the new production line as a milestone for the company, expressing hope that the advanced technology will offer a range of new flavors while maintaining international standards. Christian Stammkoetter, President of Danone Africa, Middle East, and Asia, reaffirmed Danone’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s economic growth through ongoing investments in the dairy sector.
The event was also attended by French Consul General Laurent Favier, along with representatives from the European Union and the Nigeria Investment Promotion Council.
