The Federal Government has lifted the suspension on Arik Air’s operations, allowing the airline to resume flights after a week-long grounding. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) announced the lifting of the suspension on Wednesday, citing the successful resolution of a dispute between Arik Air and Atlas Petroleum.
According to NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Michael Achimugu, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and the Director General of the NCAA, Capt. Chris Najomo, intervened to resolve the impasse. Achimugu stated that Arik Air would begin operations immediately, with passengers already checking in for scheduled flights.
The suspension, which began on June 30, was linked to a $2.5 million debt owed by Arik Air to Atlas Petroleum International Ltd. The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) had enforced the suspension following an order by the FCT High Court.
The lifting of the suspension marks a resolution to the dispute, allowing Arik Air to resume normal operations. The NCAA emphasized its commitment to ensuring safe and secure air travel for all passengers.
