In a significant turn of events, three Boko Haram fighters have surrendered to the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in the ongoing Operation Lake Sanity 2. Two fighters, Rawagana Mustapha and Mustapha Ali, aged 18 and 20, respectively, surrendered in Cameroon’s Sector 1, while the third fighter, Ibrahim Malam, 28, surrendered in Nigeria’s Sector 3.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Malam had been a Boko Haram fighter for six years. The surrender comes as the MNJTF continues its non-kinetic approach, engaging with communities and providing medical assistance.
In a related development, Sector 1 in Cameroon has launched a 7-day free medical outreach program, providing medical consultations and distributing free drugs to locals in Darak, Kofia, Hile Alifa, and Soueram. This initiative aims to enhance the health conditions of local populations affected by ongoing operations and build trust between the military and local populations.
The MNJTF’s commitment to regional stabilization is evident in its integrated approach to civil-military cooperation and military operations. By addressing immediate healthcare needs, the MNJTF aims to restore peace and normalcy in the region, ensuring the well-being of its inhabitants.
