KANO — The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Police Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, has announced a renewed security offensive targeting recurring gang-related violence in Gobirawa and Tudun Fulani Wards, following a meeting with a coalition of community leaders on Wednesday.

The coalition, drawn from Cinema, Gangare, Karshen Kwalta, Rijiyar Lemo, Layin Falwaya, Kurna Asabe, Tudun Fulani and other neighbouring communities, met with the Commissioner at the Command Headquarters in Bompai to press for greater police attention to security concerns in the area.

Led by its chairman, Alhaji Salisu Adamu Chiroma, the delegation commended the Command’s efforts to maintain law and order across Kano State and welcomed its continued emphasis on community policing.

Responding, CP Bakori assured the delegation of appropriate measures to safeguard residents. While noting a general decline in crime across the state, he acknowledged that Gobirawa and Tudun Fulani remain the principal areas still affected by gang-related clashes, locally referred to as “Daba,” and said the Command was committed to resolving the problem.

The Commissioner directed the Area Commander of Dala Area Command, ACP Maina Ngari, to coordinate immediate security operations in the affected communities and to begin a programme of stakeholder engagement within the coming week. The initiative, he said, would involve direct consultations between police officials and residents, traditional rulers, youth leaders and community associations, with a view to improving intelligence sharing and building lasting trust between the police and the public.

CP Bakori said the measures were consistent with the community-policing priorities set out by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and reiterated the Command’s determination to eliminate criminal activity in the affected wards. He appealed to residents to continue providing timely information to the police.

The Kano State Police Command said it remained committed to strengthening its partnership with community stakeholders in pursuit of a safer state.

This report is based on a press statement issued by CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Police Public Relations Officer, Kano State Police Command, on August 26, 2026.
