Nollywood actress Adejumoke Aderounmu, famous for portraying “Esther” in Funke Akindele’s hit TV series Jenifa’s Diary, has passed away. Her brother, Adeola Aderounmu, confirmed her death on Instagram with a poignant post featuring her obituary photo. Additionally, a close friend of her cousin, Oluwabanke Funmi, expressed condolences on Twitter, expressing disbelief and waiting for clarification, but to no avail.

Born on March 26, 1984, the actress tragically passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at a private hospital. The cause of her death remains undisclosed at the time of this report. Nonetheless, a funeral service has already taken place for Aderounmu Adejumoke at Owu Baptist Church in the Totoro area of Abeokuta, Ogun state.

A trending obituary graphic circulating on social media, reportedly released by the family, announced the sorrowful passing of Aderounmu Adejumoke Oreoluwa, described as their sister, daughter, and aunt.

Aderounmu embarked on her acting journey in her hometown of Abeokuta, where she was born into a family of five. Following the completion of her education, she pursued a career in acting professionally, quickly making a name for herself within the industry.

In 2016, Aderounmu secured her breakthrough role as Esther in the popular series “Jenifa’s Diary,” which significantly contributed to her rise to fame. Her portrayal of the tenacious and spirited Esther showcased her remarkable versatility as an actress, garnering widespread praise from both fans and critics alike and earning her a special place in the hearts of viewers.

Throughout her illustrious career, Aderounmu appeared in over ten films, spanning both English and Yoruba languages, showcasing her versatility and unwavering dedication to her craft. Beyond her acting prowess, she also made her mark as an on-air personality, producer, and cherished figure within the entertainment sphere.

Her influence on the Nollywood scene was profound, evident in her willingness to tackle challenging roles that highlighted her talent and depth as an actress. From her early portrayal of Yejide in “Dazzling Mirage” to her memorable characters in “Industreet” and “Alakada 2,” Aderounmu’s legacy is defined by her passion, skill, and steadfast commitment to her art.
