Robbery at Volcano Peak Hotel Kills One

In the early hours of Saturday, Volcano Peak Court Hotel in Gwarimpa, Abuja, was targeted by robbers, resulting in the death of one individual. The incident took place at approximately 3:35 a.m., leading to the fatal shooting of Bashir Dauda.

Dauda was rushed to the Federal Medical Center in Jabi, where he was pronounced dead by the attending medical staff. On Sunday, the FCT Police, through a statement from Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident. The statement also mentioned that Dauda’s body had been released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic traditions.

During the robbery, numerous people attempted to escape to safety, with several sustaining injuries. Reports indicate that the group of robbers consisted of about 15 individuals.

SP Adeh reported, “At around 5:07 a.m. on June 15, 2024, the FCT Police Command received an urgent call about a robbery at Volcano Peak Court Hotel, which had occurred at 3:35 a.m. Officers from the Gwarimpa Police Division responded immediately, securing the scene and finding that Bashir Dauda had been shot. He was quickly transported to the Federal Medical Center in Jabi, where he was confirmed dead by doctors. The family requested the release of the body for Islamic burial. The investigation continues as we work to apprehend the perpetrators, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”

The FCT Police Command has advised residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities. They assured the public of a prompt response to emergency calls and provided the following contact numbers: 0803 200 3913 and 0806 158 1938.
