Norway and Morocco have written new chapters in their football history after reaching the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, becoming two of the tournament’s standout performers.
Norway produced one of the biggest surprises of the competition by eliminating five-time world champions Brazil with a 2-1 victory in the Round of 16. The result sends the Scandinavian side into the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time ever, surpassing their previous best finish.
Morocco also continued their impressive run with a commanding 3-0 win over Canada to secure a place in the last eight. The achievement marks only the second time the Atlas Lions have reached the World Cup quarter-finals, further highlighting their growing influence on the international stage.
Switzerland also progressed after overcoming Colombia in a penalty shootout following a goalless 120 minutes. Unlike Norway and Morocco, the Swiss are making a return to the quarter-finals, having previously reached that stage when they hosted the tournament in 1954.
With the quarter-final fixtures now confirmed, the competition has produced a mix of football heavyweights and emerging contenders, as Norway and Morocco continue to defy expectations with their memorable campaigns.
