Osun Election: Adeleke Camp Threatens N10bn Defamation Suit Against Senator

The campaign organisation of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has threatened to institute a ₦10 billion defamation lawsuit against a serving senator over alleged defamatory statements made during the ongoing political activities ahead of the state governorship election.

The campaign said the senator’s alleged remarks were false and capable of damaging the reputation of Governor Adeleke and his administration.

In a statement, the Adeleke campaign demanded that the senator retract the alleged defamatory claims and issue an apology, warning that failure to do so would lead to legal action.

The development comes amid heightened political activities in Osun State, with the major political parties intensifying their campaigns and exchanges ahead of the governorship election.

The Adeleke camp maintained that political disagreements should not be allowed to degenerate into the spread of allegations capable of damaging the reputation of individuals.

The threatened legal action adds another dimension to the increasingly heated political contest in Osun, where candidates and their supporters have continued to trade accusations as the election approaches.
