The Oyo State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, has officially stepped down from his position in the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.
The development was communicated in a formal correspondence submitted to the governor through the Secretary to the State Government on Monday, November 2, 2026.
In the document, which carried the heading Resignation Letter, Ojo informed the governor of his decision to relinquish his appointment, stating that his departure from the state executive council would take immediate effect.
The former commissioner referenced an earlier communication dated June 22, 2026, identified as SP.S.662/2/VOL.IV/192, while notifying the governor of his intention to discontinue his service in the cabinet.
In the letter, he wrote:
“With reference to your letter dated 22nd June, 2026 (SP.S.662/2/VOL.IV/192), I respectfully write to formally resign my appointment as Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, with effect from today, 2nd November, 2026.”
Ojo also used the correspondence to acknowledge the opportunity he received to work with the Makinde-led government, expressing gratitude to the governor for appointing him to serve in the state administration.
He described his time in office as a privilege, noting that contributing to the affairs of Oyo State and serving its residents had been a responsibility he greatly valued.
The outgoing cabinet member further conveyed his appreciation for the confidence reposed in him by the governor, adding that he regarded his appointment as a significant honour.
Expressing his gratitude, Ojo stated:
“I want to express my sincere appreciation for the opportunity to serve our dear State under the administration of Your Excellency. Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour that I do not take lightly.”
He concluded his message by extending his highest regards to Makinde, maintaining a tone of appreciation in his formal notification of departure.
The resignation marks the end of Ojo’s tenure as the state’s Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, a position through which he was part of the administration responsible for coordinating budgetary and economic planning matters.
His decision to leave the cabinet was formally conveyed to the governor, with the effective date clearly stated as November 2, 2026.
However, the resignation letter did not provide any explanation for his decision to leave the administration. Ojo also did not disclose whether he had plans to pursue other political engagements or professional responsibilities following his departure.
The development comes as a change within the composition of Makinde’s executive council, although no further details regarding a possible replacement were contained in the correspondence.
Ojo’s letter focused primarily on communicating his immediate resignation and appreciating the governor for the opportunity to serve Oyo State.
