Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has directed his supporters to vote for candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in all elective positions during the 2027 general elections.
The directive was disclosed by the party’s North-West Vice Chairman, Hafsat Baba, during a coalition meeting involving support groups loyal to the former governor in Kaduna State.
According to Baba, El-Rufai communicated the instruction through her, urging his supporters to mobilise behind the ADC and ensure the party receives their votes at every level of the forthcoming elections.
She explained that the directive covers the presidential, governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections across Kaduna State’s 23 local government areas.
Baba said the meeting was organised to bring together the various support groups associated with El-Rufai and establish a coordinated structure for political mobilisation ahead of 2027.
She added that the coalition intended to develop a database of the former governor’s supporters across the state to strengthen communication, organise activities and maintain regular engagement with members.
The ADC chieftain also urged supporters to remain united, peaceful and law-abiding throughout their political activities, stressing the importance of coordinated participation as the election approaches.
Baba said the groups were committed to sustaining what they described as El-Rufai’s developmental legacy, particularly in education, healthcare and empowerment.
She further raised concerns over insecurity in parts of Kaduna State, specifically identifying Birnin Gwari, Giwa and Millennium City as areas requiring increased security attention.
The party official called on security agencies to intensify efforts to protect residents and their property, urging authorities to respond effectively to security challenges across the state.
Baba also alleged that more than 30 supporters of El-Rufai had been arrested approximately two weeks before the coalition meeting.
She questioned what she described as repeated arrests involving the former governor’s loyalists and called on security agencies to carry out their duties impartially and in accordance with the Constitution.
El-Rufai, who governed Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023, has become one of the prominent figures associated with the ADC as opposition politicians prepare for the 2027 elections.
His latest directive signals an effort to consolidate the support groups around him under the party’s platform and expand its grassroots mobilisation across Kaduna State.
The development comes as political parties and their supporters intensify preparations for the next general elections, with attention increasingly focused on party structures, alliances and voter mobilisation.
