Former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Musa Daura, has explained his decision to resign from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and join the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Daura, who was an ADC governorship aspirant in Katsina State, said his decision followed developments surrounding the party’s governorship primary and the subsequent political crisis in the state.
He had contested the ADC governorship ticket but lost to Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita. Following the primary, Daura became one of the prominent aspirants challenging the process used to select the party’s candidate.
The former DSS chief later announced his resignation from the ADC and declared his movement to the APM in Daura Local Government Area.
Explaining his decision, Daura said his silence during the crisis was deliberate, adding that he had been carefully considering his next political move.
He told his supporters to remain patient, promising that further developments would unfold under his new political platform.
Daura said his involvement in politics was driven by his desire to serve the people and contribute to Nigeria’s development.
“I am in politics because I want Nigeria to be back on its feet,” he said, expressing confidence that his political journey would succeed with the support of the people of Katsina and Nigerians.
His exit comes alongside that of another prominent ADC governorship aspirant, former Katsina State Secretary to the Government, Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, who also resigned from the ADC and returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The developments have further exposed the internal challenges facing the ADC in Katsina State as political parties position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections
