2027 Race: NDC Begins Unity Drive To Resolve Internal Crisis

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has commenced efforts to address internal disagreements and strengthen unity among members as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.

The move comes amid concerns over divisions arising from recent party activities, including issues surrounding internal processes and the need to accommodate different interests within the growing opposition platform.

Party leaders have said the reconciliation effort is aimed at bringing aggrieved members together, resolving complaints and ensuring that all stakeholders remain committed to the party’s objectives ahead of the election season.

The NDC, which has recently attracted prominent opposition figures including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, has been working to build a stronger structure as political activities intensify ahead of 2027.

The party’s leadership has emphasised the importance of unity, discipline and cooperation among members, noting that internal stability will be crucial as the party expands its nationwide presence.

Political observers say reconciliation efforts are common within political parties, especially when new members and major figures join existing structures. They note that managing different interests will be important for the NDC as it seeks to present itself as a strong alternative ahead of the next general election.

As preparations for 2027 continue, the NDC is expected to focus on strengthening its grassroots structures, improving coordination among members and maintaining a united front in the face of increasing political competition.
