“Many Artistes Lie About Their Age for Deals” — Odumodublvck Speaks

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has sparked conversation in the music industry after claiming that some artistes deliberately falsify their age to secure record deals and industry opportunities.

Speaking during a recent discussion, the rapper alleged that age manipulation has become a strategy among some emerging acts seeking to appear more attractive to record labels and potential investors.

“A lot of artistes reduce their age because of record labels and partnership deals. You know a lot of investors in the music industry wouldn’t want to invest in older artistes,” he said.

His comments have since generated mixed reactions across social media. While some fans agreed with his claims, noting that the industry often prioritizes youth and image, others questioned how widespread the practice really is and called for greater transparency.

Industry observers say the issue highlights the pressure on artistes to fit certain market expectations, especially in a highly competitive environment where branding and public perception can influence opportunities. For many upcoming musicians, factors such as age, image, and audience appeal can play a significant role in securing deals.

However, critics argue that authenticity should remain a core value, warning that misrepresentation could affect credibility in the long run. Others insist that talent, consistency, and originality should carry more weight than age in determining an artiste’s success.

As the debate continues, Odumodublvck’s remarks have added to ongoing conversations about the realities of the Nigerian music business, with fans and insiders weighing in on how far artistes are willing to go to achieve success.
