MultiChoice Nigeria has announced the appointment of Kemi Omotosho as its new Chief Executive Officer, following the retirement of John Ugbe.
In a statement issued on Monday, the company said Omotosho’s appointment will take effect from January 2026.
Ugbe is retiring after nearly 15 years at the helm of the pay-TV company, a period during which he guided the business through significant industry and market transformations.
Omotosho brings over two decades of experience across the media, telecommunications, and digital services sectors in Nigeria and across sub-Saharan Africa. She has previously held several senior leadership roles within the MultiChoice Group, including Executive Head of Customer Value Management in Nigeria and Group Executive Head of Customer Value Management for the Rest of Africa. Most recently, she served as Regional Director for Southern Africa, where she oversaw operations across seven countries.
Reacting to her appointment, Omotosho described Nigeria as a key market for the Group and expressed her commitment to strengthening the company’s local impact.
“It is a privilege to be entrusted with the leadership of MultiChoice Nigeria at this important moment. Nigeria remains one of the Group’s most strategic and dynamic markets,” she said.
“I look forward to working with our teams and partners to deepen our relationship with consumers, champion local storytelling and the creative economy, and build a future-ready organisation that delivers sustainable value.”
The company added that Ugbe’s retirement and Omotosho’s appointment followed a structured transition process, designed to ensure leadership continuity and operational stability.
