The City Boy Movement in Oyo has announced a voter-outreach campaign covering every local government in the state, with the aim of securing President Bola Tinubu another four years in office and helping other APC flagbearers win their respective contests in 2027.
Femi Onireti, who heads the organisation in the state, revealed the plan on Monday at an event held at Jogor Centre, Ibadan, where newly appointed executives at state and local levels were formally inaugurated.
Olumide Alli, the movement’s Director of Mobilisation, who spoke on behalf of Onireti, tasked the new leaders with putting aside personal interests and pursuing the organisation’s political mission.
He explained that the group intends to build sufficient grassroots backing to return Tinubu to the presidency while supporting the APC’s candidates in other electoral races.
Onireti attributed the movement’s position to what he described as progress recorded under the current Federal Government. He pointed to projects inherited from earlier administrations, noting that some had reached completion while others remained under implementation.
He appealed to Nigerians to retain Tinubu beyond 2027, arguing that another term would give the administration the opportunity to advance work begun after taking office in 2023.
Oyo APC chairman Moses Adeyemo, who also addressed the gathering, called on the movement to draw on the influence of young Nigerians to improve the party’s standing ahead of the next polls.
Adeyemo observed that young people make up a substantial portion of the country’s population and urged the group to convert that demographic advantage into votes for the APC.
While expressing confidence in the calibre of those seeking elective positions on the party’s platform, he said members must coordinate their efforts and focus on winning at the ballot box.
The 2027 election cycle is expected to trigger increased political activity, with parties working to expand their support bases and strengthen their presence in communities across the country.
In Oyo, the APC and rival parties are expected to compete for voters in the state’s 33 local government areas as the election approaches.
