Rema, Burna Boy, Shallipopi Shine as Nigerian Stars Dominate 9th AFRIMA Awards in Lagos

Nigerian superstars Burna Boy, Rema, Yemi Alade, Shallipopi, Phyno, Qing Madi and Chella were among the biggest winners at the 9th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), held on Sunday night in Lagos.

Rema dominated the night with three major awards, winning Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, and Best African Artiste in RnB and Soul.

Burna Boy clinched Album of the Year for No Sign of Weakness, while Yemi Alade won Best Soundtrack in a Movie, Series or Documentary for her song You Are, featured in the animated series Iyanu.

Shallipopi emerged as a double winner, taking home Song of the Year for Laho and Best African Collaboration, alongside Burna Boy.
Veteran rapper Phyno won Best African Artiste in African Hip-Hop, while fast-rising singer Chella was named African Fans’ Favourite.

Qing Madi claimed Most Promising Artiste of the Year, beating nominees including Cysoul, Joshua Baraka, King Luca, L’Oiseau Rare, Lwah Ndlunkulu, Massamba Amadeus, Rym, Kunmie and Fola.
