Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has pledged to fully implement President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directives to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) without ambiguity or delay.
Aneke, who described the moment as a defining one for the Service, said the Air Force’s operational actions now have direct implications for the nation’s security and stability.
Speaking at the close of a two-day meeting with Air Component Commanders in Abuja on Thursday, he stated,
“The aspirations of millions of Nigerians rest, in part, on how effectively we carry out our duties. The President has given clear and express directives, and those directives will be implemented to the letter. There will be no ambiguity in our posture. The time for action is now, and we will deliver.”
The Air Chief described the meeting as a platform to “refocus, realign, and reposition the Nigerian Air Force for greater impact,” emphasizing his commitment to enhancing operational efficiency, professionalism, and safety across all units.
According to him, actionable frameworks have been developed to ensure measurable field results that directly contribute to mission success.
Aneke expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu for his leadership and confidence in the Service, assuring Nigerians that the Air Force remains steadfast in realising the President’s vision of a secure and prosperous nation.
He reaffirmed NAF’s readiness to collaborate with sister security agencies to combat terrorism and other threats to national peace, stressing that all policies and resource allocations would revolve around two central pillars — operations and safety — supported by robust logistics, modern technology, and efficient administration.
“This is about putting square pegs in square holes. The Nigerian Air Force needs leaders who can deliver, and I believe we have assembled the right team to take us to the next level,” Aneke said.
He further pledged that the Air Force would continue to strengthen civil-military relations through community engagement and people-focused operations, noting that protecting civilian lives and preventing collateral damage would remain core principles of NAF’s professionalism.
At the opening of the commanders’ meeting on Wednesday, Aneke had tasked them to intensify precision air operations and deliver smarter, more decisive strikes against insurgents and criminal elements threatening Nigeria’s peace.
“Every mission must reflect professionalism, purpose, and patriotism,” he said, emphasizing the need for agility, precision, and intelligence-driven warfare. “The evolving nature of threats requires synchronization of air, land, and maritime operations to achieve joint mission success.”
