In line with Nigeria’s commitment to achieving a low-carbon economy, Maektech Power Solutions — a prominent player in the nation’s renewable energy sector with operations in Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Benin City — has unveiled fresh investments to broaden its clean energy operations and hasten the shift toward net-zero emissions.
The company explained that this initiative aligns with Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan and its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement, both of which target carbon neutrality by 2060 while ensuring access to sustainable and affordable electricity for all.
According to a statement signed by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Otudero Michael, Maektech Power Solutions remains a dedicated ally in Nigeria’s journey toward decarbonisation.
“Maektech Power Solutions is not merely a solar provider; we are a crucial pillar in Nigeria’s energy future. Our mission is to democratise access to clean, reliable, and affordable solar energy throughout Nigeria, empowering households and businesses to achieve energy independence while making a significant contribution to environmental sustainability.”
Michael revealed that the company has already executed more than 800 solar installations nationwide, including several multimillion-naira projects serving industrial clients in key commercial hubs. He noted that these systems have helped both small enterprises and large corporations to reduce operational costs and curb their carbon footprint.
The CEO further stated that Maektech’s latest round of investment will prioritise the deployment of scalable solar technologies and the expansion of its network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations — a move designed to strengthen Nigeria’s emerging clean mobility ecosystem.
“The shift from grid dependence to decentralised clean energy is no longer aspirational,” Michael said. “It is an urgent requirement if Nigeria is to meet its climate commitments and drive sustainable economic growth. We are actively building the bridge to that future.”
Nigeria has witnessed a dramatic rise in solar adoption in recent years. Data indicates that solar imports surged by 94 percent in 2023, underscoring the growing preference for off-grid power among individuals and enterprises seeking alternatives to unstable grid electricity. Yet, affordability continues to pose a challenge, with advanced solar systems costing as high as ₦30 million.
Maektech Power Solutions said it is tackling this issue through flexible financing options and modular system designs that enable customers to expand installations in line with their financial capacity and energy requirements.
Since its founding, Maektech has dedicated itself to addressing Nigeria’s persistent power crisis — from unreliable grid supply to the high cost and inefficiency of fuel-powered generators. The firm has carved a niche as a trusted solar energy provider committed to quality, reliability, and accessibility.
As the Federal Government pushes to diversify the nation’s energy sources, Maektech’s expansion underscores the growing role of the private sector in advancing Nigeria’s sustainability agenda. The company maintains that partnerships among renewable energy firms, investors, and government agencies are crucial to achieving the country’s net-zero targets and ensuring lasting energy security.
