Tompolo Donates ₦10 Billion to Boost Delta State Security

In an unprecedented gesture of commitment to peace and security, the Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has donated a staggering ₦10 billion to the Delta State Security Trust Fund.

The announcement was made during the official launch of the fund, held at the Government House in Asaba on Monday. The event was attended by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, senior members of the state executive council, heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders from across the state.

The Delta State Security Trust Fund, an initiative of the Oborevwori administration, was established to provide sustainable financing for security operations, logistics, and technology-driven surveillance systems across the state. It aims to strengthen collaboration among security agencies and reduce incidents of oil theft, kidnapping, and communal violence in the Niger Delta.

Speaking at the event, Tompolo emphasized that peace and security remain the bedrock of development and economic stability in any society. He said his donation was motivated by a desire to complement government efforts in protecting lives, investments, and the natural resources of the region.

“Delta State is our home, and it is our duty to ensure that peace reigns here. I believe that when we support security, we support development, jobs, and hope for our people,” Tompolo stated, drawing applause from attendees.

Governor Oborevwori, visibly elated by the gesture, described Tompolo’s contribution as “historic and patriotic,” noting that it demonstrates the vital role of private citizens and corporate organisations in promoting safety and development.

“What Tompolo has done today is not just a donation; it is an investment in the future of Delta State. This fund will help us respond faster to security challenges, empower our local vigilante groups, and deploy technology to protect our communities,” the governor said.

The governor further called on other well-meaning Deltans, oil companies, and business leaders to emulate Tompolo’s example, stressing that security funding should not be left to government alone.

The Delta State Security Trust Fund is expected to serve as a central mechanism for managing and disbursing resources dedicated to improving intelligence gathering, operational logistics, and training for security personnel. Part of the fund will also be used to install surveillance cameras, patrol equipment, and communication systems across strategic areas in the state.

Tompolo’s ₦10 billion contribution marks one of the largest private security-related donations in Nigeria’s recent history. It also reinforces his growing influence as a peace ambassador and key player in maintaining stability in the Niger Delta region.

Observers have lauded the initiative as a model for other states struggling with insecurity, arguing that public-private collaboration remains crucial for lasting peace.

A senior security official who attended the launch noted that the partnership between the government and private stakeholders like Tantita Security Services has already produced measurable results in curbing oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the creeks.

“Tompolo’s organisation has demonstrated professionalism and results in the protection of national oil assets. This contribution will further strengthen the synergy between security agencies and community-based intelligence networks,” the official said.

Tompolo’s company, Tantita Security Services, has been instrumental in securing Nigeria’s oil pipelines under a federal surveillance contract, contributing significantly to the reduction of crude oil losses and illegal bunkering activities.

With this latest contribution, the Delta State Government is expected to unveil new operational frameworks for the Trust Fund in the coming weeks, including a monitoring board to ensure transparency and accountability.

As the Niger Delta continues to play a critical role in Nigeria’s economic survival, stakeholders believe that initiatives like the Delta State Security Trust Fund will serve as a blueprint for sustainable peace and community development across oil-producing regions
