Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has praised Evangelist Ebuka Obi, Spiritual Director of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach, for constructing a 400-bed psychiatric hospital and old people’s home in Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area.
The facility, built by the Seraphic Foundation, the charity arm of Zion Ministry, was officially inaugurated on Friday. During the commissioning, Governor Soludo commended Evangelist Obi for his commitment to social impact and described the project as a true reflection of Christian values.
“This is what the government should be doing, but we cannot do it alone,” Soludo said. “By building this facility, Evangelist Obi has demonstrated the true essence of Christianity. He is sending a powerful message to all Christianity is about who you can uplift. Thank you for answering that call.”
The governor announced that his administration would partner with the facility to support its operations. He pledged to provide a transformer for electricity and construct an access road leading to the hospital.
Soludo, who earlier received the cleric at the ‘Light House’ in Awka, added, “With this hospital, Obi has changed the narrative and is making the kind of societal impact that reflects our administration’s goals. I am proud to collaborate with him to serve the vulnerable and less privileged.”
In his remarks, Evangelist Obi reiterated that the project is not politically motivated and is part of his lifelong vision to care for the mentally ill and the elderly at no cost.
“This is not a political gathering,” Obi stressed. “This has been my dream since childhood. I have travelled the world and seen that mentally unstable people are not left on the streets. With this project, we are changing that reality in Nigeria.”
Obi revealed that the facility, which includes seven buildings capable of housing up to 500 patients, will begin full operations next month. He added that similar projects had already been executed in neighboring states, with more planned across the country.
“Anywhere we find a mentally unstable person, we will bring them here for free treatment,” he said.
The event attracted a large gathering of worshippers and members of Zion Ministry from across Nigeria, who came to witness the commissioning.
