In a move to address the persistent issue of cattle roaming within Abuja’s city centre, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Ajao Adewale, held a strategic meeting with leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association on September 17, 2025.
Spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed the development in a statement on Thursday. According to her, the meeting, held at the Command Headquarters in Garki II, brought together representatives from the three major Miyetti Allah factions: MACBAN, Kautahuri, and Falako Yesu-Yesu.
During the engagement, CP Adewale expressed concern over the disruptive presence of cattle in the city centre and the involvement of herders in communal clashes. He emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among residents, warning that cattle roaming within the capital would no longer be tolerated.
In response, Miyetti Allah leaders commended the commissioner for initiating the dialogue, describing it as the first of its kind. They pledged to implement the resolutions agreed upon and promised to provide feedback within a week.
The FCT Police Command assured residents that it would monitor compliance with the agreement, engage with stakeholders on grazing land issues, and strengthen community policing to prevent future conflicts.
