Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has dismissed the political relevance of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking during an interview with Symfoni TV, Bwala argued that Makinde does not have the national political profile or support needed to mount a successful presidential bid. According to him, available political data and electoral calculations do not place the Oyo governor among the leading contenders for the presidency.
Bwala claimed that Makinde would struggle to secure victory even in Oyo State if he contested the presidency. He also noted that the governor has largely built his political career within Oyo State and lacks the nationwide visibility, alliances, and political networks required to compete effectively in a presidential election.
He further stated that anyone aspiring to lead Nigeria must have broad national appeal, strong partnerships, and a track record of political engagement across different regions of the country.
Comparing Makinde with Sowore, Bwala said the AAC presidential candidate enjoys greater national recognition and public acceptance. However, he maintained that despite Sowore’s visibility and popularity in many parts of the country, he remains electorally insignificant in the context of Nigeria’s presidential race.
