A Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) under Senator David Mark, in a judgment that could affect the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Justice Peter Lifu, in a judgment delivered on Thursday, ruled that Mark’s emergence as national chairman, alongside other members of his executive, violated the party’s constitution and established guidelines.
The court consequently nullified all actions taken by the Mark-led leadership.
It also held that following the resignation of other party members, the plaintiff, Nafiu Bala Gombe, was the authentic leader of the ADC.
The ruling casts uncertainty over the party’s leadership structure and the validity of decisions taken under Mark’s administration, potentially creating complications for its participation in the 2027 general elections.
The judgment comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 polls, with the ADC positioning itself as a platform for opposition political figures.
