The son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Olujuwon Obasanjo, has declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 after joining the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement as Special Adviser on Political Affairs.
Olujuwon made his position known on Wednesday, November 4, during a visit to the movement’s headquarters in Abuja, where he was formally received by its national coordinator and taken on a tour of the facility.
He described his appointment as an honour and privilege, commending the organisation for its grassroots mobilisation, community outreach and efforts to promote the activities of the Tinubu administration.
The former president’s son said he had been following the movement’s activities and was impressed by its work, adding that he was ready to contribute towards its objectives and the President’s second-term ambition.
According to him, Tinubu has started on a good note, making it important for Nigerians, particularly young people, to support his administration and sustain its ongoing reforms.
He also identified salary payments, infrastructure development and investment opportunities as some of the areas where the country had recorded progress under the current administration.
Olujuwon expressed confidence that continued support for Tinubu would allow the government to consolidate its achievements and deliver more for Nigerians.
He further disclosed that he had been a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) since 2014, explaining that members of the Obasanjo family were free to pursue different political interests without hostility.
He said the family respected individual political choices, despite differences in their affiliations and positions.
Earlier, the National Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Sunday Adekanbi Asuku, welcomed Olujuwon into the organisation, describing him as an experienced political figure with a strong background in leadership and governance.
Asuku expressed confidence that his political experience and understanding of grassroots mobilisation would strengthen the movement’s activities and support its nationwide campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development comes amid growing political activities and mobilisation by supporters of President Tinubu ahead of the next presidential election.
