Betta Edu, a former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) can count on Cross River State for the 2027 elections, expressing optimism about President Bola Tinubu retaining his seat and Governor Bassey Otu securing another term in office.
Edu made the declaration while speaking to journalists at an APC political gathering in Calabar. She currently serves as Co-Director of the Women Mobilisation Directorate of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.
She said the political atmosphere in Cross River indicated strong backing for the two leaders, adding that the party was determined to maintain its hold on the state.
According to her, the gathering reflected the level of cooperation among APC members and their determination to advance the party’s electoral interests.
Edu further tasked party loyalists, female supporters, young people and community organisers with taking the campaign to different neighbourhoods through direct contact with residents and increased voter awareness.
Prominent figures at the gathering included Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and the governors of Cross River, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Edo states.
The occasion also attracted senior party officials, members of the presidential campaign team and other APC supporters.
