Senator Natasha Hadiza Akpoti-Uduaghan has marked her third anniversary in the Senate with the distribution of smart devices, including laptop computers, to selected secondary schools in Kogi Central.

The intervention, held on Monday, November 2, 2026, was aimed at promoting digital literacy, improving access to educational resources and supporting human capital development among young people in the senatorial district.

According to a statement by her media office, the Senator visited OCSS Oboroke, Adavi Model Secondary School, Adavi Eba, and Community Secondary School, Obangede, all in Okehi Local Government Area, where students and school authorities received the devices.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the 10th Senate, said the initiative reflected her commitment to ensuring that democratic representation translated into practical benefits for her constituents, particularly young people.

Speaking during the visits, she said representation should be measured by its impact on people’s lives rather than simply occupying a political office or making speeches in the National Assembly.

“For me, the essence of representation is not simply to occupy an office or make speeches in the chambers of the National Assembly. It is about making a difference in the lives of the people who entrusted us with their mandate,” she said.

The Senator described education as a critical investment in society’s future, noting that access to digital tools would help students improve their learning and prepare for opportunities in an increasingly technology-driven world.

She urged the beneficiaries to embrace digital literacy, remain committed to their studies and develop the skills needed to compete in a changing global environment.

Akpoti-Uduaghan also charged teachers and school administrators to ensure that the devices were properly maintained and used strictly for educational purposes.

She said she remained mindful of the responsibility attached to her mandate and pledged to sustain interventions aimed at improving the welfare of residents of Kogi Central.

At Community Secondary School, Obangede, the Governing Council Chairman, Dr Shehu Sule, commended the Senator for extending her educational interventions to the institution.

Sule praised her commitment to quality representation, education and human capital development, describing her visit as a privilege for the school community.

He also highlighted her influence on young people, particularly girls, saying her leadership example could inspire the younger generation to pursue leadership and public service.

The council chairman appealed for continued collaboration between the Senator and the school, expressing confidence that the donated devices would expand students’ learning opportunities.

He further requested an opportunity to present her with an award in recognition of her contributions to education, youth development and leadership.

Three years into her representation of Kogi Central in the Senate, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s constituency interventions have covered education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, economic empowerment and youth development.

In education, her programmes have included support for learning facilities, educational materials, scholarships and other opportunities for students.

In the health sector, she has advocated improved access to specialist medical services, including through Senate Bill 521, which seeks the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Ihima, to serve Kogi Central and neighbouring communities.

Her other areas of intervention and advocacy include road infrastructure, potable water, school facilities, solar-powered public infrastructure, women’s economic advancement, agricultural support and skills development.

Beyond constituency projects, the Senator has also maintained an active position on issues of public accountability, social justice, equitable resource allocation and responsive governance.

Her media office said the distribution of smart devices was part of efforts to ensure that the benefits of democratic governance reached communities at the grassroots.

Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to service and development, with particular emphasis on initiatives that improve the social and economic well-being of Kogi Central and create opportunities for younger generations.
