Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, has dismissed the opposition coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), calling it deceptive.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Friday, Baba-Ahmed distanced himself from the coalition and reaffirmed his loyalty to the Labour Party and its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
“They are deceiving us,” he said when asked about the coalition.
“I am a Labour Party man. I am Peter Obi’s man. I still want Peter Obi to return to the Labour Party and contest in 2027.”
Baba-Ahmed also criticized the current leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accusing it of undermining the constitution during the 2023 presidential election.
“Electoral fraud is the single most important issue Nigeria must address even more than insecurity,” he argued, claiming that insecurity and corruption are worsened by flawed elections.
In response, ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, brushed off the criticism.
“When he begins to make sense, we will respond,” Abdullahi said.
