Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool striker, has been awarded the 2025 PFA Men’s Player of the Year, becoming the first footballer in history to earn this distinction three times.
Aston Villa’s promising midfielder Morgan Rogers claimed the Young Player of the Year award, while former England coach Gareth Southgate was honored with the PFA Merit Award for his remarkable impact on the sport and leadership of the national squad.
The Professional Footballers’ Association shared these announcements on its website on Tuesday.
At 33, Salah was crucial to Liverpool’s Premier League victory last season, topping the scoring charts with 29 goals and contributing 18 assists.
Reflecting on his journey, he said, “Of course I wanted to be a football player and I wanted to be famous and provide for my family, but you don’t think about the big stuff when you are still in Egypt.
“When you grow, you start to see things differently and you start to have ambition and you start to see the bigger picture.”
The Liverpool attacker had already received the 2024-25 Premier League Player of the Season and the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year awards, capping off a phenomenal individual season.
Other nominees for the PFA Men’s Player of the Year included Liverpool teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes, Newcastle forward Alexander Isak, Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer, and Arsenal’s Declan Rice.
