Paris FC striker, Moses Simon, has poured out his gratitude to his former side, FC Nantes, after the club honoured him with a touching farewell gesture during a friendly clash with Paris FC on Saturday.
Having enjoyed a fruitful six-year stint at Nantes before sealing a summer move worth €7m, Simon was celebrated by both the club and its supporters at Stade de la Beaujoire during Paris FC’s 3-2 victory.
It marked Simon’s first return to Nantes since his transfer, and he was greeted with a guard of honour, loud cheers from the stands, and the presentation of a commemorative plaque in recognition of his contributions.
Now turning out for newly promoted Paris FC and already featuring in two pre-season outings, Simon took to social media to share his joy and appreciation for the warm treatment.
“Thank you for the warm welcome at FC Nantes. Honoured by the tribute and grateful to play again in front of the amazing Nantes fans. It was also special to reunite with my former teammates,” he posted on X.
During his years at Nantes, Simon was a pivotal figure, playing a crucial part in their 2022 Coupe de France triumph while maintaining consistent form in Ligue 1.
He first arrived at the club in 2019 on loan from Levante before securing a permanent deal the following year, eventually racking up 201 appearances, netting 37 goals, and creating 42 assists for Les Canaris.
Loved by the fans for his determination and impact, Simon was instrumental in helping Nantes avoid relegation more than once, and was central to their successive Coupe de France final appearances in 2022 and 2023.
The Nigerian international also had an impressive 2024/25 campaign, scoring eight times and providing 10 assists as Nantes secured a 13th-place finish in Ligue 1, keeping six points clear of the drop zone.
