Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, has described the tribunal’s ruling upholding Governor Monday Okpehbolo’s election victory as a temporary setback.
Moreover, Aziegbemi urged party members to remain resolute and expressed disagreement with the ruling, believing that their candidate, Asue Ighodalo, won the majority of votes.
The tribunal, led by Justice Wilfred Kpochi, dismissed the PDP’s petition due to insufficient evidence of over-voting. Aziegbemi emphasized that the party will explore all available democratic means to ensure the people’s will prevails and plans to challenge the ruling in the appellate court.
In his statement, Aziegbemi said, “We hold the judiciary in high esteem and respect the judgment, but we completely disagree with the decision… We believe our candidate was duly elected by the majority, and we’re certain we’ve sufficiently proved our case.” He called on party members to rise from the temporary setback and keep hope alive as they explore available democratic means.
