Alma Asinobi’s 71-Hour Race Across Seven Continents

Nigerian content creator Alma Asinobi has successfully broken the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to visit all seven continents, completing the challenge in just 71 hours. The journey, which began as an ambitious dream, has thrust her into the global spotlight, showcasing not just her passion for travel but also her determination to inspire others to break boundaries.

Alma, known for her work as a storyteller and marketer, launched the endeavor in March 2025, aiming to surpass the previous record of 51 hours, held by a Japanese traveler. Driven by a deep desire to raise awareness about the challenges faced by Nigerian passport holders, she also wanted to show the world that anyone, regardless of background, could push beyond limits. Alma’s personal connection to the challenge was strong, as she recognized the difficulties faced by Africans, particularly Nigerians, in the world of international travel.

However, the journey was fraught with significant hurdles. One of the main challenges was securing the necessary visas, as Nigerian passport holders often face delays and obstacles in obtaining travel permissions. Alma’s travel itinerary demanded that she seamlessly move between continents, and any delay in visa processing could have derailed the entire attempt. On top of that, flight cancellations and missed connections added further complexity to her journey. Alma found herself facing constant travel delays, long layovers, and moments where it seemed like she might not make it. She shared with her followers on Instagram that there were times when she doubted her ability to succeed. “At some points, it felt like I might never make it,” she admitted. “But I couldn’t give up. It was about pushing past limitations, not just for me, but to show the world what someone like me—someone from Nigeria—could achieve.”

Despite these setbacks, Alma remained resolute. She navigated the challenges with unwavering determination and was finally able to complete her journey across all seven continents, breaking the world record in the process. Her journey took her from the bustling streets of New York to the ice-covered landscape of Antarctica, through Asia’s vibrant cultures, and across the vast terrain of Africa. Throughout it all, Alma shared her experience with her social media followers, inspiring many to believe that anything is possible if they work hard enough.

In a post marking her achievement, Alma shared her joy, writing, “71 hours later, against all odds, I made it. I’ve broken a world record, but more importantly, I’ve proven that dreams can’t be limited by borders or by the challenges we face. No matter where you come from, your potential is limitless.” For Alma, the record-breaking journey wasn’t just about achieving a personal goal; it was also about raising awareness of the issues Nigerian passport holders face in the international travel space. Alma’s persistence despite these difficulties has sparked a larger conversation about how African passport holders are treated in the global travel system.

Alma’s world record-breaking journey has become a powerful tale of resilience, strength, and the importance of believing in one’s potential. By pushing through the various obstacles she encountered, Alma not only made history but also inspired people around the world to pursue their own dreams without letting challenges stand in their way. For Alma, this achievement is just the beginning, and she continues to use her platform to motivate others to break barriers and reach for what they once thought impossible.

“I hope my journey encourages others to take on what seems impossible,” she reflected. “If you can dream it, you can achieve it. Don’t let anything stand in your way.” Alma’s story is a testament to the fact that with determination, resilience, and a refusal to be limited by circumstances, anything can be accomplished.
