Dear People of Rivers State,
I address you today with a deep sense of responsibility and calm as we navigate this difficult chapter in our state’s political history.
Since taking office as your Governor, I have always acted in accordance with my constitutional oath and a strong sense of duty to serve you. My administration has focused on safeguarding lives and property while ensuring the continued development of our beloved state.
Despite the political challenges we have faced, our commitment to constitutional order and the rule of law has never wavered. The welfare of our people has always been our top priority. This is why, when President Tinubu intervened to mediate peace, we acted in good faith to implement the agreed terms, including the reinstatement of commissioners who had previously resigned.
Additionally, we promptly complied with the Supreme Court’s ruling upon receiving the certified true copy of the judgment, working to restore normalcy in the state. These actions were not driven by personal interests but by our desire to foster peace, unity, and stability in Rivers State.
Regrettably, at every turn, efforts to achieve meaningful progress were thwarted by members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, making it increasingly difficult to move forward with genuine peace and development.
Despite these challenges, our priorities remained clear: ensuring the safety and security of our people and advancing the prosperity of Rivers State. Yes, we have experienced political disagreements, but governance has continued, salaries have been paid, and significant projects have moved forward to improve the state. Under our leadership, Rivers State has remained safe, secure, and peaceful.
At this critical juncture, I urge all Rivers people to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding. We will continue to engage with all relevant institutions to ensure that our democracy remains strong and that our state continues to flourish.
Rivers State has always been a resilient community, and we will meet this moment with wisdom, patience, and unwavering faith in the democratic process.
May God bless Rivers State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
