PDP Governors Denies Endorsing El-Rufai, Obi for 2027

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum has denied reports that its members are backing a potential 2027 presidential ticket featuring Nasir El-Rufai and Peter Obi. In a statement, the forum declared that its members will support any aspirant who wins the party’s ticket.

The denial comes after reports emerged that five PDP governors were supporting an El-Rufai/Obi ticket within the All Progressives Congress (APC). The PDP Governors Forum condemned these reports, labeling them “unpleasant and provocative publications”.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who leads the forum, emphasized that the PDP governors are committed to supporting the party’s nominee, regardless of who emerges as the flagbearer. The forum also reaffirmed its commitment to the party’s principles, including equity, social justice, and accountability.

It’s worth noting that the PDP Governors Forum has been working to strengthen the party’s structure and promote reconciliation among its members. The forum has also been critical of the ruling APC, accusing it of trying to create divisions within the PDP and undermine Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
