The National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ude Okoye, led a delegation of party chieftains to visit Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, following his resignation from the party.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos, Adediran’s spokesman, Gbenga Ogunleye, confirmed the visit.
Adediran, the PDP’s 2023 Lagos State governorship candidate and leader of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, announced his departure from the party on Monday, citing betrayal and a lack of discipline within its ranks.
Less than 48 hours after his exit, PDP leaders met with Adediran at his Abuja office, urging him to reconsider his decision.
According to Ogunleye, the delegation—comprising PDP National Secretary Ude Okoye, former National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan, and ex-lawmaker Shina Peller—pleaded with Adediran to return to the party.
While acknowledging the concerns that led to his resignation, they encouraged him to reconsider his stance.
In response, Adediran expressed appreciation for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to working with allies in his political journey, regardless of political differences.
On Monday, Adediran announced his resignation alongside his supporters across Lagos’ 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas. He attributed his decision to what he described as betrayal by party elders and the PDP’s prolonged internal crisis in Lagos.
He hinted that his next political move would be revealed in the coming months.
