Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has assigned portfolios to six newly sworn-in commissioners, urging them to assume office immediately to fast-track development across the state.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor, on Tuesday. The newly assigned commissioners are Paul Ohonbamu, Ministry of Information and Communication; Dr. Washington Osifo, Ministry of Water Resources and Energy; Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, Ministry of Education; Lucky Eseigbe, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Andrew Ijegbai, Ministry of Mining; and Marie Olabisi-Idaomi, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony held at the New Festival Hall in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo charged the appointees to serve with dedication, integrity, and excellence. He emphasized that the appointments reflected his administration’s commitment to good governance, efficient service delivery, and the well-being of Edo citizens.
“This appointment is not just an honor but a call to serve,” Okpebholo said. “You have been chosen because of your skills and the trust we have in your ability to contribute meaningfully to the development of our state.”
The governor further encouraged the commissioners to embrace teamwork and focus on initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people. “Together, we can make Edo State a model of growth and prosperity,” he added.
The new commissioners are expected to begin work immediately, in line with the administration’s pledge to deliver rapid progress in the state.
