The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has restated President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to delivering democracy dividends to Nigerians. Akume made this declaration on Wednesday during a thanksgiving service held in honor of Mathias Byuan, the Executive Director of Housing, Finance, and Account at the Federal Housing Authority. The event occurred in Agidi, Ugambe, Shangev Tiev, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State.
Highlighting ongoing federal projects in Benue, such as the dualization of the Makurdi/Ninth Mile road, Akume emphasized the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure across the country. “The present administration of President Bola Tinubu is committed to the well-being of Nigerians, which is why there are ongoing projects across the country,” he stated.
Akume also urged Benue youths to resist being manipulated by politicians and instead hold their leaders accountable. “You need to know that everything is done using the commonwealth of the people, which should be clearly spelled out with figures for easy understanding,” he added.
Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom lauded Akume as a visionary leader, describing him as a benefactor committed to advancing the state’s development. Ortom expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for appointing Benue indigenes to key positions and applauded Byuan for his dedication to empowering the community.
Byuan, the event’s celebrant, announced the launch of the Mathias Byuan Community Empowerment Foundation, aimed at supporting the less privileged in Benue. He also pledged his loyalty to Tinubu and Akume while urging the state government to maximize federal allocations for the benefit of its citizens.
In his homily, Bishop Isaac Dugu of the Katsina-Ala Diocese urged Christians to embody love and prayer within their families. “Prayer is more powerful than an AK-47 rifle,” he remarked, calling for sustained prayers for families and good governance.
The event, chaired by Jacob Gyado, witnessed calls for unity among the people to support Akume and the Tinubu administration’s vision for Nigeria’s progress.
This gathering underscored the collaborative spirit among political leaders, clerics, and the community in advancing Benue’s development.
