The Federal Government, in partnership with Galaxy Backbone, its digital infrastructure partner, has rolled out the Government Service Portal (GSP) with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Chidi Okpala, Head of Media and Corporate Communications at Galaxy Backbone, announced in a statement on Wednesday that this new platform is set to boost government-citizen relations while making public services more accessible across Nigeria.
The GSP is structured as a consolidated digital interface that enables citizens to access multiple government services seamlessly, removing the need for physical visits to government offices. Galaxy Backbone highlighted that the launch included a workshop with representatives from 12 major government agencies, marking the beginning of the project’s first phase.
According to the agency, the portal will allow Nigerians to easily access crucial services such as National Identification Number registration, immigration services, healthcare assistance, and more. Representing Minister Bosun Tijani, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy emphasized the project’s importance, pointing to the need for enhanced collaboration and deeper engagement with citizens.
“The Government Service Portal has the potential to change lives,” said the minister. “I believe that through efficient and effective collaboration, we can accomplish significant progress for our nation.”
Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanyu, Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone, spoke about the initiative’s role in transforming public service delivery. “The Government Service Portal reflects Nigeria’s commitment to digital transformation for improved governance,” he remarked.
“Galaxy Backbone is honored to lead this initiative with KOICA, aiming to make government services more efficient, transparent, and accessible. This collaboration with pilot agencies is a major step towards a fully digital public service environment that will benefit every Nigerian.”
KOICA’s Country Director, Sunjil SON, reiterated the agency’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s path toward an inclusive digital economy. He expressed, “KOICA is thrilled to work with Galaxy Backbone and the Nigerian government to create a platform that will revolutionize citizen-government interactions. This project aligns with our broader mission of fostering sustainable development through technology and innovation.”
